I Am Replaceable Everywhere—But Not Here
Yes, God has called me to do great things. But not at the cost of the greatest role He’s given me: being a mother. A wife. A safe space. A memory-maker. A legacy-leaver.
It hit me one day like a tidal wave—I am replaceable everywhere but here.
Not long ago, I used to believe my work, my education, my ambitions had to come first. I justified it with love: “I’m doing this for my son.” I would take him to class in a car seat. Sit him in the back of a library while I pulled all-nighters. I’d have him coloring under my desk while I worked late, thinking I was building a better future.
And in some ways, I was.
But then one day, I watched a coworker pass away suddenly on the job. And the next day? That desk had a new name on it. That position was posted. The emails kept coming. The meetings kept happening. The company moved on.
But their family didn’t. Their spouse didn’t. Their children didn’t.
That moment never left me. Because I realized—I’m replaceable out there. But here? At home? In this house? In this family? I’m not replaceable. I’m needed.
Yes, God has called me to do great things.
But not at the cost of the greatest role He’s given me: being a mother. A wife. A safe space. A memory-maker. A legacy-leaver.
Now, I make different choices. Not perfect ones—but conscious ones.
Because my name might not live long in boardrooms, but it will echo through generations around this dinner table.
💎 3 Gems from God About What Really Matters:
💎 Your family is your first ministry.
"But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith…" — 1 Timothy 5:8 (ESV)
Provision isn’t just about money—it’s about presence.
💎 Earthly titles fade, but eternal impact lasts.
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth… but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven." — Matthew 6:19–20 (NIV)
Trophies tarnish. Memories don’t.
💎 You are uniquely called to your home.
"Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her…" — Proverbs 31:28 (NIV)
No one can play your role in your family better than you.
A Prayer for You (and for Me):
God,
Remind us today where we are irreplaceable.
Not in the titles we chase, but in the lives we touch.
Help us steward our calling as wives, mothers, and anchors with grace—not guilt.
Redirect our hustle when it blinds us from home.
Recenter our hearts when we’re pulled by applause that fades.
May we never forget:
No job, no paycheck, no platform can replace the love You’ve asked us to carry within our homes.
Thank You for the honor of being needed—here.
Help us show up fully.
With joy. With presence. With peace.
Amen.
